Mohsen Motamedian – The Child Foundation

1/6/2015

Southern California entrepreneur Mohsen “Max” Motamedian has created and developed companies promoting holistic health and wellness, such as Total NutriCare, LLC. In philanthropic matters, Mohsen “Max” Motamedian donates to the Child Foundation.

The recipient of a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, the Child Foundation aids children around the world. Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2014, this group focuses on enabling high-achieving students who live in poverty to reach their potential. By increasing access to education, the Foundation attempts to keep children in school and continue their learning. Additionally, it runs a Back to School campaign that provides youths with backpacks filled with essential school supplies, as well as the Simin Behbahani Memorial Scholarship, which goes to female students in need.

Along with its educational endeavors, the Child Foundation has contributed medical resources and supported health initiatives in the Middle East. In November 2014, nearly 200 people, including more than 20 women, donated blood at the Foundation’s blood drive at Mola-Ali Hospital in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan. The blood went to children with thalassemia, who needed blood transfusions. To learn about upcoming events within the United States and around the world, log onto www.childfoundation.org.

The Importance of a Proper Omega-3 and Omega-6 EFA Balance

Based in Southern California, Mohsen Motamedian is head of NutriCare, LLC, a company that produces nutritional supplements. Mohsen Motamedian’s firm markets the Ultimate EPA-DHA Blend, which contains cold-water-fish-sourced omega-3 essential fatty acids (EFA). Certified for purity, the blend is manufactured in Norway.

Omega-3 fatty acids are distinguished as “good fats” that counter inflammation, as opposed to “bad” omega-6 fatty acids. It is important to take in a certain amount of both types of EFA, as the body does not naturally produce these acids. They play an essential role in the central nervous system as molecular messengers that protect the nerve cells and enhance immunity. In contrast with the typical American diet, which is heavily skewed toward omega-6 EFAs, the ideal diet should have only a 2-to-1 ratio in favor of omega-6 EFAs. Sourcing omega-3 fatty acids does take a bit of work: in addition to fish, they are present in eggs, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, and canola and hempseed oil. As a way of ensuring that they get enough omega-3 EFAs, many people incorporate the supplements Max Motamedian’s company offers as a regular part of their diet.
